14 Feb Florida’s Law Makers are Trying to Limit the THC in Your Pot
Approximately a year ago, myself and another activist friend were rushing to Tallahassee to go meet with several different law makers. We had heard of rumors of a Bill that was floating around the Florida legislature that was specifically requesting a 10% THC cap on medical marijuana.
In the end the proposed bill was debated on by Florida lawmakers and was struck down in the end. It is indeed a ridiculous proposal. Floridians voted in record numbers to amend the Florida constitution to include cannabis as a medicine. Whenever a Florida legislature asks for a THC cap on cannabis, what they really are trying to do is limit what makes cannabis a medicine. With simple logic, we can dismiss the idea of a THC cap right away. However, many of Florida’s legislature aren’t exactly logical people. They are still scared of the false stigmas behind cannabis and, due to their inability to hold scientific fact over emotion, they work against the will of the people of Florida.
Rep. Jose Oliva is the latest Florida legislature to propose a 10% THC cap on Florida’s medical cannabis system.
“I think it’s important that we pass it,” Oliva said Thursday after the House adjourned. “We’re seeing different strains now in Europe that are 100 times stronger, and we’re starting to learn that this has some schizophrenic results, especially in young, developing brains.”
“It is in fact a priority for us,” Oliva added. “In talking with the Senate President over the summer, he felt it was important to take a serious look at this,” Oliva noted. “Again, I think it’s still early, and I feel confident we’ll be able to get something done.”
Florida’s Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers are now boasting about flower they have grown with levels of THC higher than 25%!
And the truth is, even with levels as high as 25%, flower remains one of their least potent products. Some vapes, concentrates, and distillates can be as potent as 90% THC.
Chillum Glass Gallery and CBD Dispensary is not a Medical Marijuana Treatment Center and we do not sell marijuana. Any of the products we sell are NOT for the use of cannabis and are sold for tobacco and hemp based CBD use only. That being said we are advocates for reform and are happy to report anything happening in the movement.
