21 Feb Trulieve Employee Arrested for Stealing Cannabis and Selling it on the Black Market
Trulieve employee was arrested for stealing marijuana products from the cannabis company and selling them on the black market. Trulieve is the largest supplier of medical cannabis in the State of Florida and claims to control half of the medical cannabis market in the state.
The employee accused of the crime was 53 year old Sonya Hammberg, who admitted to police that she illegally sold marijuana products from Trulieve twice. Once, on September 2019 for $50 and another time on January 15th 2020 for $100! She also admitted to owning illegal cannabis products even though she is a legal medical marijuana patient and an employee of the largest distributors of legal cannabis in the state. Hammberg worked for the research and development branch of the company.
Hammberg faces a felony charge for the distribution of marijuana and her employment has been terminated with Trulieve.
According to a statement from Trulieve, she was caught by the company and the police were notified right away:
“The employee in question was caught as a direct result of our internal controls and upon our findings we notified the police. We of course will continue working with authorities to ensure those who are responsible are held fully accountable.”
