What Do People Use CBD For?

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol, or CBD, interacts with the endocannabinoid system. To better understand what people, use CBD for we have to understand the functions of the endocannabinoid system.

The Endocannabinoid System

The endocannabinoid system, or ECS, regulates the functions of the body.  The ECS is a system of receptors that bind with chemicals called cannabinoids.  The human body makes its own endocannabinoids and releases them as needed.  It is possible to boost the ECS by supplementing it with cannabinoids found in plants, or phytocannabinoids.  CBD and THC are only two of the hundreds or so phytocannabinoids found in cannabis.

What Do People Use CBD For?

When the endocannabinoid system is functioning properly it’s called homeostasis. That is that all the functions of the body are working properly. When homeostasis is not achieved then CBD can be supplemented into to the body to help achieve this. Because a great number of factors contribute to homeostasis, CBD can be helpful for achieving a greater quality of life.

Many people like to say that CBD is non-psychoactive, which is not true.  What these people would like to say is that CBD is non-intoxicating.  Psychoactive means that the substance can affect the mind.  Since CBD treat anxiety and produces a sort of “calm focus” effect, then CBD does in fact affect the mind. But it doesn’t get you “high”.  There is no euphoric effect to CBD.
