Why CBD and Coke Don’t Mix

Why CBD and Coke Don’t Mix

Everyone has been trying to get into the CBD business.  Bloomberg reported last year that even the beverage giant Coca Cola was looking to get into the mix.  They apparently were in serious talks with Aurora Cannabis to develop a CBD infused cannabis drink.

10% shareholder of Coca Cola and famed billionaire Warren Buffett spoke out against such a deal in a tweet.  Saying that Coca Cola’s image is too wholesome to get into the cannabis industry. We at Chillum CBD Dispensary would like to respectfully disagree with Mr. Buffet.  Granted there are a great deal of stigmas associated with cannabis and the CBD industry itself.  But we don’t feel Coca’s image is too “wholesome” for the CBD industry.  Here is why!

CBD Doesn’t Mix with Diabetes

Coca Cola spends a lot of money trying to convince people that its products go hand in hand with a healthy lifestyle.  With ads at sporting events and commercials featuring various athletes. But there is one fact that they can’t get away with.  One bottle of Coke has 27 grams of refined sugar in it. Which is already more than the daily recommendation of sugar.  Drinking Coca Cola puts you at risk for obesity and many chronic diseases.  Exactly what many people who take CBD are trying to prevent…

CBD Doesn’t Mix with Childhood Obesity

The whole CBD craze started with a CNN special with Sanjay Gupta where they explored giving CBD to a little girl with a rare and severe form of epilepsy.  The special called for more research behind the medical benefits of CBD, because it really did seem to help this little girl, significantly reducing the amount of seizures she experienced. The CBD craze started because it seemed like a better alternative than giving seizure medicine to children.

According to the CDC, the percentage of obese children and adolescents has tripled since the 1970s. Our kids are too fat. Nearly 20% of school-aged children and young adults are obese. Sugar accounts for up to 14 percent of the total caloric intake of children, and up to 17% for adults.

CBD Doesn’t Mix with High Fructose Corn Syrup

There is a ton of anecdotal info out there about CBD and good health.  The FDA doesn’t allow CBD companies to make medical claims, but there is a great deal of information out there about how corn syrup is the worst thing for your health.  Coke is packed with high fructose corn syrup.  Why take two steps back when you are trying to take a step forward.
